The Bradetich Foundation is proud to announce the inaugural International Double Bass Solo Competition June 16-20, 2010. The finest solo performers in the world are invited to compete for the most generous awards in double bass history. Hosted by the largest music school in America at the University of North Texas, College of Music in Denton, Texas, the International Double Bass Solo Competition endeavors to identify emerging international artists and to provide career advancement and leadership opportunities. Eligibility
The Competition is open to anyone under the age of 35 as of the first day of the competition in June, 2010, and who has not given a formal New York City debut concert

Repertoire
The competition will include three rounds of performances and one interview round

First Round (Traditional Classical Repertoire - 25 minutes)
• Bach Cello Suite (any movement)
• Contemporary Solo, originally for double bass, post 1970 (with or without accompaniment)
• Original Double Bass work(s) from the Classical, Romantic and/or 20th Century (pre-1970)

Second Round (40 minute recital)
A solo recital of the competitor’s choosing, showcasing the performer’s uniqueness and the particular style(s) or genre that they champion. Different styles include, but are not limited to: Traditional Classical, Early Music, Avante Garde, Crossover, Jazz, Performance Art, etc. Only one work from round one may be repeated in the second round.

Third Round (Interview - 30 minute)
Each competitor will interview with the judges to identify the performer’s readiness for a solo career, ability to be an ambassador for the bass and a leader in the profession

Fourth Round (Concerto with Orchestra)
The final round will be a concerto with orchestra with live video streaming worldwide. Any concerto (original or transcription) with a readily available score and parts is eligible. All selections must be approved by the Competition Committee in advance. This work may not be performed on any of the earlier rounds.

Judging
The combined scoring in all four rounds by the judges will determine the winners. Judges for the competition will be prominent International artists.
