Dominik Wagner
1st Prize Winner of the 2nd Bradetich Foundation International Double Bass Solo Competition
Dominik Wagner was born in Vienna in 1997. When he was four years old, he started his musical education, first as a cellist and later as a double bassist. From 2009 to 2015 he studied at the University for Music and Arts in Vienna with Josef Niederhammer and Werner Fleischmann. Currently he is studying in Nürnberg with Dorin Marc. He has won prizes at many international competitions, including the ARD Competition, the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition, the Bass 2016 Prague Competition, the Markneukirchen Competition, the Bodensee Competition, the Sperger Competition, the Osaka Competition, the Golden Bass Competition, and the Janacek Competition. As a soloist, Dominik has played with orchestras such as the Bavarian Symphony Orchestra, the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Südwestdeutsche Kammerorchester Pforzheim, the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz. Dominik is a scholarship holder at the Anne Sophie Mutter foundation. |
