For all those who are not in Texas, you could have the opportunity to work with experienced teachers from anywhere in the world and enhance your bass technique through the International Virtual Bass Conservatory! |
We've not only adapted to it but also recognized the numerous advantages that online teaching offers in the field of performance.
We are excited to present a refreshing approach to double bass technique instruction through a blend of group learning combining synchronous and asynchronous remote education.
After successfully transitioning to the online realm, we've not only adapted to it but also recognized the numerous advantages it offers in the field of performance. We are excited to present a refreshing approach to double bass technique instruction through a blend of group learning, combining synchronous and asynchronous remote education.
Our program encompasses:
This innovative approach combines assigned tasks and lectures with interactive group lessons via Zoom, as well as smaller groups for in-depth, personalized instruction—simulating the benefits of an in-person lesson. Video assignments are thoughtfully scheduled alongside synchronous activities and receive weekly feedback to facilitate your technique development.
Furthermore, besides the expertise of our esteemed faculty and guest artists, our students enrich their learning experience by mentoring one another in a remote setting. Classes are conducted through Zoom, ensuring active engagement in weekly sessions guided by professionals from the DFW Metroplex: Jose Saavedra Diaz and Bob Lee Simmons. Additionally, we have the privilege of hosting world-renowned guest artists, including Jeff Bradetich, Gudrun Raschen, Dominik Wagner, Andrew Williams, Gabriel Ramon, and more, for exclusive masterclasses.
The Virtual Bass Conservatory not only aims to enhance students' technical progress but also their appreciation and enjoyment of music. As we embark on our third year, following triumphant years of online teaching, the IVBC continues to leverage online resources, enabling bass players worldwide to refine their technique, regardless of their location.
To ensure accessibility and accommodate various schedules, our classes will be structured based on Fall attendance. Our first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 20th. The class will start with a dedicated technique hour, followed by two small groups (Groups A and B). In preparation for this meeting, a video submission will be required to determine group placements.
We look forward to welcoming you to the International Virtual Bass Conservatory and helping you reach new heights in your bass-playing journey, regardless of where you are in the world!

The grand finale of our program, the Final Virtual Concert, is set to take place online on December 20th. This concert promises to showcase the chamber music and solo repertoire that has been meticulously prepared throughout the semester. It will feature not only individual performances by our talented students but also pre-recorded chamber ensembles.
Mock Audition As an integral part of our curriculum, we strongly encourage students to study Orchestral Excerpts. Over the course of thirteen sessions, participants will immerse themselves in a diverse array of musical styles, dive into different articulations, and refine techniques to gain a deeper understanding of orchestral music. To put their newfound skills to the test, a mock audition will be conducted during the first week of December. The standout performer in this audition will be rewarded with a special prize generously sponsored by Lemur Music.
