25th HAMMOND ASHLEY MEMORIAL BASS WORKSHOP CONCERT FUNDRAISER
Twenty-five years ago, Hammond Ashley, Jeff Bradetich, and Todd Gowers got together on stage at the Shoreline Concert hall and had students perform a masterclass for Double Bassists. The next year, after Hammond's passing, Ben Musa and Miriam Chong joined the faculty and it became the Hammond Ashley Memorial Double Bass Workshop (HAMDBW). The workshop offers one week of intensive double bass instruction, including solo masterclass, technique class, music theory, jazz theory, jazz soloing and comping, orchestral excerpts, and more.
At HAMDBW, we have always been self sustained through tuition, but this year would like to perform a 25th anniversary celebration with a free concert featuring Jeff Bradetich as soloist with orchestra. We need to raise money to hire the orchestra, a conductor, and to rent a performance hall. Other expenses include monies for reception, flyer, programs, and misc. This concert will be free to the public, which all of our concerts have been for 25 years. Even if you cannot donate, you are welcome to come join the celebration!
We have averaged about 45 bass students per year from around the northwest and beyond. Every year there are three free professional recitals and one student recital. The workshop takes place the last week in June. The 25th Anniversary Concert is slated for June 28th, 2018 at 7:30 pm, at First Free Methodist Church in Seattle's North Queen Anne community.
Thank you in advance for your help, and we hope to see you at the concert!
