33rd Annual Bradetich Double Bass Master Classes

June 15-19, 2020 (check in Sunday night, June 14)

The Bradetich Master Classes is one of the longest running events of its kind in the U.S. These classes offer a highly concentrated week of study for aspiring bassists. Participants, who come from five continents as well as all corners of the U.S., receive optimum individual and group instruction in all aspects of double bass playing. The classes include daily two-hour sessions dealing with technique, orchestral repertoire, and the interpretation of solo literature. In addition, bass ensembles are rehearsed throughout the week. All full participants will have the opportunity to perform with piano accompaniment and will be videotaped during the solo classes. The master classes end with a grand finale concert featuring ensemble performances by the participants. These unique master classes are open to well-qualified high school and college students and young professionals. Also welcome are string teachers and older individuals who seek to rejuvenate their love and knowledge of the double bass.

Two levels of participation are available:
Full Participant: (Limit 25) Participate in all sessions and perform in solo classes. The participants are expected to be able to play three-octave scales; have good knowledge of thumb position; be able to play solo works of at least the difficulty level of the Eccles Sonata or the Dragonetti Concerto.
Auditor: No instrument. Will attend all sessions and take part in discussions

20th Annual Beginners and Intermediate Bass Camp

June 16-19, 2020 (check in Monday night, June 15)

University of North Texas

Instructors: Dr. Gudrun Raschen, Dr. Jessica Gilliam & Dr. Carlos Gaviria

Beginning and Intermediate players of the double Bass will join the North Texas Bass Camp for four days of fun, participation and instruction. Playing, practicing and performing will abound and students will enjoy the week-ending game of “Double Bass Jeopardy” and perform in the Grand Finale Concert.   Participants will have the opportunity to work with outstanding teachers Dr. Gudrun Raschen  – University of North Texas, Dr. Jessica Gilliam – Southwestern University and Dr. Carlos Gaviria – Stephen F. Austin University.

17th Annual Pirastro Strings Elite Soloists Program

May 29 - June 5, 2020 (check in Thursday night, May 28)

The Pirastro Strings Elite Soloists Program will accept only 5 participants to study with Jeff Bradetich. Thanks to the generous support of Pirastro Strings, this program offers free tuition, room and board. The Pirastro company will also supply participants with free strings of their choice. The schedule for this highly individualized program will include: Daily private lessons, daily solo master classes, rehearsal and performance with highly skilled accompanists, and maximum practice time. In addition, repertoire, programming and career advancement will be discussed. This program is designed for aspiring young artists and professional orchestra players. Former participants currently perform in: Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, Chicago Symphony, National Symphony, Detroit Symphony, Singapore Philharmonic, National Orchestra of Denmark and many others. To qualify, participants must have a number of solo works ready for study and performance.
